Randy Johnson has been guiding with Getaway Adventures for over 15 years. He loves taking guests out to new and interesting wineries and enjoying good food and conversation. Over the years Randy has explored every nook and cranny of Wine Country and can answer all your questions about the wine making process. In addition to his guide duties, Randy is also President and CEO of Getaway Adventures.

Tom Scott is a self described “oenophile” and “foodie”. He has been guiding with Getaway for more than seven years, the longest of any of our guides, and his knowledge of the area’s wine is almost encyclopedic. Feel free to converse with Tom Scott in any of the 8 languages he speaks fluently, from German to Spanish to Mandarin to Urdu, and no topic is taboo. Be assured, if you tour with Tom you are in the hands of a true expert.

Tommy is about as laid back as they come, and he is a wealth of wine knowledge. When he walks into a tasting room, the staff is always thrilled to see him and his guests. When he’s not biking all over Sonoma and Napa, Tommy also loves to go abalone diving and hunting, and he is an accomplished mushroom hunter as well! He’s a great guide for any foodies out there.

Michael has become known around Getaway Adventures as one of the best people to go on tour with because he is so friendly and always works so hard to make sure his guests’ expectations are met or exceeded. In his time outside of Getaway Adventures, Michael enjoys mountain biking, fishing, abalone diving, and spending time with his young twin girls.

Ken Bogel is a fantastic tour guide and lover of all things outdoors. He has been leading trips with Getaway Adventures for 4 years now. Ken is a transplant from the East Coast, but has made California his new home. He has been known to leap mountains and rivers with a single bound. He can make any tour fun and interesting with his preponderance of local knowledge and tidbits. He is strong like an ox and smart as a lion. You won't regret touring with him.

Fred Heins, with 18 years of local riding experience, specializes in customized, long-distance, Sonoma County riding and multi-day tours. Ride where Levi Leipheimer trains while enjoying full SAG support and a guide with extensive, up-to-date knowledge of roads and conditions throughout Sonoma County. King Ridge, Cavedale, Pine Flat, The Geysers, Coleman Valley, Sweetwater Springs. Enjoy the grandeur of the Coastal Hills, the Sonoma Mountains or the rugged Pacific coastline. Mountain bike? Absolutely! And customized guided hikes too!!

This is Barb’s second season with Getaway Adventures, and she is a great addition to the team. She has worked in a law office for 15+ years, and she loves going for rides in the Dry Creek Valley on her days off. She is also an avid kayaker and enjoys weekend paddles down the Russian River.

Maria worked with Getaway Adventures many years ago, and has recently rejoined us. She is avidly involved in many local environmental projects, so she loves that Getaway Adventures is an eco-friendly way to enjoy Wine Country. She enjoys spending time outdoors with her son when she is not on tour.

Currently finishing up school to become a medical assistant, Jesse has been with Getaway Adventures for a few years. He loves getting out on the river and showing guests the natural beauty of Wine Country from the seat of a kayak. Jesse has lived in many different places, but says that the beauty of this area are what makes it his favorite, and he wants to make it one of your favorites too!

Bill has a full time sales job and is a huge mountain biker- but when we can convince him to skip Annadale and the office for the day, he’ll come help us with our larger group events. Bill’s relaxed style will have you on the road and smiling in no time.

Gigi has been touring with Getaway Adventures for three seasons. She loves mountain biking, wine and the outdoors. Gigi regularly takes time off for triathlons with her husband Ed. She has more energy at 8am than most of us have all day, and tours with her are smooth and fun. The last few seasons Gigi has also been taking wine classes, so make sure to ask her the difficult questions. E.g. “Gigi, would you say this varietal grows better in alluvial silt or volcanic soils?”

If you go on tour with Karen you will be hearing much about Zinfandel. Yes, Karen is a true fanatic of this spicy Mediterranean varietal. She is even planning a trip to Croatia to pay homage to the birthplace of the vine. Tours with Karen are a pile of fun, and most people do not mind being indoctrinated into the fold. When Karen is not bicycling or drinking Zin, she might be found teaching.

Wendy is the newest addition to the Getaway Adventures Team and we love having her here! She is the Tour Coordinator/Office Manager, and she specializes in all of the tour details! She grew up locally and has always been a wine lover, as well as an avid biker, reader, and gardener.

Tim has worked with Getaway for the better part of 6+ years. Starting in a local bike shop back in 1999, Tim has been wrenching bikes ever since. If he can pry himself away from the shop, you might find him racing mountain bikes on the local circuit. When he isn't riding bikes you may cross paths with him at the local sports bar (una cuba con anejo en su mano), sipping wine in the local tasting rooms, or enjoying an outing with his penguin! :-) Make sure and ask for him if you're looking for that "fast" road or mountain bike adventure!

Barry is a wonderful addition to the Getaway Adventures shop team. He is currently running our new Napa Valley location. Barry has always loved cycling and he used to compete in races. He also loves to go for mountain bike rides in Annadel State Park. Barry is a tireless worker and we are lucky to have him as part of our family!

Dorie has held the very important bookkeeper position at Getaway Adventures for 3+ years, and we are so lucky to have her. She always brings a smile to our faces when she comes in to the office. Outside of work Dorie likes to spend time with her two Bichon Frise dogs, Josie and Doug.
