Why Choose Getaway Adventures for Wine Country touring?
Getaway Adventures is the original touring company in Napa Valley and Sonoma County. All employees and guides are local to the area and have expertise on wine, restaurants, history, flora, fauna and the best trails and roads to share with you. If you are comparing tour companies, please ask the others if they are local to the area and how long they have been in business.
Getaway Adventures has been in business since 1991 with the same owners, and has long standing relations with many hotels and wineries that other companies cannot match. We strive hard to be the best touring company in the area and promise you will have made the right choice in going on tour with us. Our goal is to be an environmentally friendly local tour company that educates our guests on wine and the area and gives you a chance to smell the roses (and zinfandel) and get some exercise too!
We work with all the major hotels in Napa from The Calistoga Ranch to the Meritage Resort and everyone in between
We have more Trip Advisor 5 star reviews than any other bike tour company.

How much should I tip my guide?
Your guides work hard to provide you with an excellent tour experience, interesting wine facts, and a delicious gourmet lunch. For guide tips, we suggest $20-$30 per guest for day tours. For multi-day tours we recommend 10% of the total tour price.
What should I wear?
Biking – Wear comfortable, breathing clothes you can ride in. Layers are best as the mornings can be cooler than the rest of the day. Tennis shoes or similar shoes are great. If you decide to wear pants, please be aware that your right leg will need to be rolled up or cinched about the pants leg to make sure the bike chain does not eat your pants. Don’t forget your sunglasses, sun block and camera!Kayaking – Wear clothes you do not mind getting wet in. Bathing suits, shorts and t-shirts are best. River shoes or sandals like Tevas are perfect. Don’t forget retainers for your sunglasses, a hat, and we’ll bring the sun block!
Are there wine tasting fees and how much do they cost?
Recently more and more wineries are charging wine tasting fees. We try to choose wineries that do not charge, but sometimes it is unavoidable. Wine tasting fees vary from $10 to $25 per person per winery. In most cases you can share a taste ( one glass). At some wineries, if you purchase wine you are reimbursed the tasting fee.
What types of bikes will we be using?
On our day tours, we offer Specialized Cross Trail hybrid bikes, with upright handle bars for comfort. They come with a front bags to store your personal items. We also offer touring and road bikes, mountain bikes, cruisers and tandems – let us know if you would prefer to use one of our other bikes. We have a limited supply of clip-less pedals, or can take our pedals off to attach yours. View our bikes here.
What is the difficulty of the bike tours?
The Sip n Cycle routes we choose are geared towards “Energetic Beginners” and are mainly flat with only a few rolling hills here and there. Typically the distance we travel is between 10 to 15 miles at a moderate pace, with stops about every five miles. If you want a higher level of difficulty and more miles, please let us know so we can make the arrangements with your guide!
You may also opt for our Velo n Vino bike tour for a more spirited ride (25 to 40 miles or so).
What is the distance we will ride or paddle?
Bikes- Our one day tours normally go a distance of 10 to 15 miles. This is spread out over the course of the whole day with many stops at wineries in between. Kayaks- Most kayaking routes are between 5-7 miles.
What is for lunch?
We provide you with a gourmet wine country style picnic. Pasta salad with sun dried tomatoes, pesto and artichoke hearts; tossed green salads with in season vegetables, local artisan cheeses are a few of the items we serve. Our menu varies due to what is in season locally. View our lunch here.

Once you have arrived in Santa Rosa we will pick you up for your bike fitting.
