San Francisco Adventure

Tour Information

Have you ever had the urge to ride your bike to San Francisco only to realize that you can’t cycle on the freeway and you don’t know another way to get there? You couldn’t be bothered to work out the backroads route? Or maybe you just plain old don’t feel like getting lost and would prefer to have someone else to show you the route?

Well, we have the answer for you. Let us introduce you to Getaway Adventures newest ride, the San Francisco Adventure.Iconic images of San Francisco abound….but there’s nothing quite like the experience of a slow trip over the Golden Gate Bridge.

The tour starts on Petaluma’s D-Street, where we roll past the renowned architecture of Old Petaluma and into the quiet of the surrounding pasture lands. We follow the road southwest through rolling green hills to the Nicasio Reservoir where we turn southeast, heading up Nicasio Valley towards Roy’s Redwood Preserve.

Passing through the towns of San Geronimo, Fairfax, San Anselmo and finally Ross, we join the bicycle path that meanders along Corte Madera Creek. Alternating between bike paths and surface streets, we wind our way along the shores of Richardson Bay towards Sausalito. Though we’ve traveled nearly 40 miles already, it’s only a few short miles from downtown Sausalito to the bridge of world renown.

After passing through “The Presidio,” we’ll roll along San Francisco’s famed Embarcadero where we’ll enjoy a well earned lunch at Gordon Biersch Brewery. Following lunch we take a short spin over to the ferry terminal, and embark on a scenic cruise across the bay to Larkspur where our adventure concludes.
