Russian River Kayak Tour

1(800)-499-BIKE

Tour Information

The perfect tour for those who want to see Wine Country from a different vantage point—the seat of a kayak. We paddle down the Russian River, passing by vineyards, meadows, and Redwood forests.

We meet at 10:00am at Memorial Beach in Healdsburg. This gives you ample time to finish breakfast at your hotel or make the drive up from virtually anywhere in the Northern California region. We then jump in the van and drive to our pull out spot at the Wohler Bridge on the Russian River to leave a vehicle. After our shuttle back to Memorial Beach we hop on the water and begin our day of kayaking.

You’ll be fitted with a life vest and listen to brief safety and paddling instructions before we paddle off at about 10:30 am. Within minutes we will experience our first small rapids (Class 1, appropriate for all levels) where some small creeks filter into the river.

The surrounding scenery changes as we kayak downstream and go from tight sections to open areas with vineyards lining the river. Along the way we will pass many places to stop for a swim or enjoy the wildlife that calls the river home. We will have opportunities to see Snowy Egrets, Blue Herons, turtles and even otters. There are many types of fish, from Steelhead to Salmon, that live in the river, and depending on the time of the year we may also pass schools migrating upstream to spawn.

Along the Russian River are many beaches perfect for picnics. We will stop and enjoy a picnic lunch on the bank of the river. A typical menu might include yummy sandwiches, pasta salad, local organic salad greens, seasonal fruit, and dessert.

After lunch, we’ll continue down the river until we reach Wholer Bridge, signaling the end our journey. We end at around 3:00 pm and jump into the van for the 15 minute drive back to Memorial Beach and your vehicle.
